Vixen Dance & Circus is committed to the safety and well-being of every child in our care. We believe all children have the right to protection from abuse, exploitation, and neglect, regardless of age, ability, race, religion, sexuality, or gender identity.

Legal Framework

This policy aligns with:

  • Children Act 1989 and 2004

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018)

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (2023)

  • NSPCC and Local Safeguarding Children Partnership guidance

Legislation

All staff and volunteers must undergo enhanced DBS checks.

  • Staff will receive safeguarding training every two years.

  • Staff must report any concerns immediately to the DSL.

Responding to Concerns

All disclosures will be taken seriously.

  • Confidentiality is maintained on a need-to-know basis.

  • Concerns may be referred to local safeguarding authorities if necessary.

Code of Conduct

  • Staff must always behave in a respectful, professional manner.

  • Physical contact must be appropriate and necessary.

  • Communication with children must be transparent and recorded.

Parental Involvement

  • Parents are informed of policies and invited to share relevant health or safeguarding concerns.

  • Photography/video consent is collected on enrolment.

Allegations Against Staff

  • Allegations will be investigated following statutory guidance.

  • The DSL will liaise with the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).

  • Alternatively, safeguarding concerns can be made directly to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
