Exam Policy
At Vixen Dance & Circus, examinations are an opportunity for students to celebrate their progress, build confidence, and demonstrate safe technical development.
Examinations assess technical ability, presentation, strength, and safe skill progression. Consistent attendance throughout the examination preparation period is therefore essential.
Effective: 01/01/2026
Examination Preparation Period
Exam preparation takes place within a standard 12-week term.
Students are expected to attend classes regularly during this time to ensure they are physically prepared and confident in their routines.
Attendance Expectations
Students may miss up to two scheduled preparation classes during the examination term without further action.
Absences due to illness, school commitments, or unavoidable circumstances are understood.
If a student misses three or more examination preparation sessions, additional support may be required to ensure they are safely prepared. This may include:
Booking a private catch-up lesson at the standard private lesson rate, or
Attending an additional rehearsal session where available.
Catch-up training must be completed prior to the examination date.
Missed Lessons and Catch-Up Training
Deferral of Examination Entry
If a student misses five or more preparation sessions, or if teaching staff feel that a student is not sufficiently prepared to safely complete the examination, the student may be deferred to the next available examination session.
This decision will always be made in the best interests of the student’s safety, confidence, and long-term progression.
Injury or Illness
Longer periods of absence due to injury or medical circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Commitment to Preparation
By accepting an examination place, families acknowledge the importance of consistent attendance during the preparation period.
Final examination entry decisions remain at the discretion of the teaching staff.
