Code of Conduct
At Vixen Dance & Circus, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students, parents/guardians, staff, and visitors. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards expected to ensure everyone can enjoy and benefit from our classes and community.
Effective From: 01/02/2021
Updated Date: 19/04/2025
Punctuality
Arriving on time is essential. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the class and increase the risk of injury when missing the warm up.
If your child has missed the warm up when they arrive we will strive to ensure they are fully warmed up ready for the skills in classes.
If you or your child will be late, please inform Bella as early as possible.
Attendance
Consistent attendance is key to progression in dance. Regular absences may affect a student’s ability to keep up with their group, and in some cases, they may be asked to move to a lower level or complete additional work at home to catch up.
If a student is unwell, injured, or unable to attend, please notify Bella in advance where possible.
Dress Code & Appearance
Bella is a certified First Aider, and the health and safety of all participants is a top priority. To support this:
A register is kept of all attendees and authorised collectors for children.
Medical conditions and injuries must be declared upon enrolment. Please inform Bella immediately of any updates or new conditions.
If a student feels unwell or becomes injured during class, they must alert Bella immediately.
All students should bring a water bottle and stay well hydrated during class.
Suitable warm clothing should be worn to and from class to help prevent injury.

Personal Property
Only bring essential items to class. Vixen Dance & Circus cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged items, including belongings left in vehicles.
Please label all personal items where possible.
Discipline & Respect
All students, parents/guardians, and visitors must behave respectfully and professionally at all times.
Respect teachers, fellow students, and the studio environment.
Discrimination, bullying, weight-shaming, or any form of physical or emotional abuse will not be tolerated.
Vixen Dance & Fitness promotes a mentally positive, inclusive, and body-safe environment for all.
Anti-Bullying
Vixen Dance & Circus has a strict zero-tolerance policy on bullying.
Bullying of any kind — whether verbal, physical, emotional, or online — will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
If a student is found to be bullying another member of the company, whether inside classes, online, at events, or outside of class, they will be immediately expelled from Vixen Dance & Circus.
This includes:
Name-calling, teasing, or exclusion
Threats or intimidation
Spreading rumours
Online messages or social media harassment
Any behaviour that causes harm, distress, or fear to another individual
We are proud to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. Every student has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected.
Aggressive Behaviour
Aggressive, abusive, or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This applies to behaviour directed towards students, parents/guardians, teachers, or visitors.
All incidents will be investigated and may be reported to the appropriate authority where necessary. Students may face suspension or removal from classes if such behaviour occurs.
Photography & Videography
Photos and videos may be taken during classes and events for promotional use, but only where written consent has been given.
Parents/guardians must not take photos or videos during class unless permission is granted.
Social media use must be respectful and compliant with our Media Policy.
Communication & Respectful Communication
Vixen Dance and Circus is committed to maintaining a respectful, professional, and safe environment for staff, students, and families.
Parents and guardians are expected to communicate with staff in a reasonable and respectful manner. This includes:
Allowing appropriate time for responses to messages.
Avoiding repeated messages in a short period of time regarding the same issue.
Refraining from excessive, persistent, or demanding contact, including multiple messages sent in one day without allowing time for a response.
Sending repeated messages (for example, multiple follow-ups within a short timeframe or excessive contact in a single day) may be considered inappropriate and may be perceived as harassment.
Response Timeframes
Staff will respond to messages within 48 working hours. Weekends are excluded, as we aim to maintain appropriate work–life boundaries. Messages sent on weekends will be responded to from the next working day.
Staff are not expected to respond immediately, and families should not assume urgency unless explicitly advised otherwise.
If communication becomes excessive, inappropriate, or places unreasonable pressure on staff, Vixen Dance and Circus reserves the right to:
Delay responses
Redirect communication to a scheduled meeting
Set clear communication boundaries
Review enrolment in line with our Code of Conduct where necessary
In Person Communication
To ensure classes start on time and students receive our full attention, parents and guardians are asked not to raise questions, concerns, or requests at the studio door immediately before classes.
The time before a class begins is dedicated to:
Student supervision and safeguarding
Equipment checks and class preparation
Creating a calm and focused learning environment for both staff and participants'.
Approaching staff with questions at this time can create unnecessary pressure and distraction and may impact the safe and effective delivery of the class.
Parents are asked to:
Contact us via an appropriate communication channel (BAND or email)
Allow the stated response timeframe
Arrange a scheduled conversation where a discussion is needed
Staff may politely ask to continue the conversation at a later time if approached immediately before a class.
Failure to Comply
Failure to follow the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from classes.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and positive environment for all dancers and staff.
